Terms of Award of Vancouver Women's Canadian Club
Scholarships
A report with reference to the terms of award of the
Vancouver Women's Canadian Club Scholarships in Nursing and
Health and in Canadian History was presented by Mr. Soward.
The Club had requested that the following statement in regard to these two scholarships be placed in the University
calendar under the heading "Scholarships Announced by the
University but Awarded by Other Institutions".
"Canadian History":  A Scholarship of $100 given by the
Vancouver Women's Canadian Club will be awarded a
student who attains a high standing in Canadian History
(History 2, or 3, or 20).  This scholarship will be
awarded by the Committee on Scholarships of the Vancouver Women's Canadian Club, to the Hon. Secretary of
whom application should be made by May 1st.
Application  forms may be obtained from the Registrar's
Office or from Mrs. L. M. Dryden, Hon. Secretary, 6520
Laburnum Street, Vancouver, B.C."
"Nursing and Health":  A Scholarship of $100, given by
the Vancouver Women's Canadian Club, will be awarded a
student who attains a high standing in the first four
years' training, academic and practical (or in the
first five years' training, academic and practical, in
the double course) of the Nursing and Health course.
This scholarship will be awarded by the Committee on
Scholarships of the Vancouver Women's Canadian Club, to
the Hon. Secretary of whom application should be made
by May 1st.
Application  forms may be obtained from the Registrar's
Office or from Mrs. L. M. Dryden, Hon. Secretary, 6520
laburnum Street, Vancouver, B.C."

by the Chair to consider this matter
and report at a subsequent meeting of
Senate.

Terms of Award of I.O.D.E. Scott Memorial Scholarship
Mr. Soward reported also with respect to the proposed
terms of award of the I.O.D.E. Scott Memorial Scholarship.
A request similar to that of the Vancouver Women's Canadian
Club had been received from the I.O.D.E., namely that a
statement in regard to this scholarship be placed in the
calendar under the heading "Scholarships Announced by the
University but Awarded by Other Institutions".
In this connection reference was made to the opinion
of the University Solicitor in regard to the I.O.D.E.
Scott Memorial Scholarship being announced in the calendar
under this heading.

Mr. Finlay) That the I.O.D.E. be informed of the
opinion of the Solicitor in regard to
placing this scholarship under the
heading "Scholarships announced by the
University but Awarded by Other
Institutions".

resolution after "informed"
be struck out and that the
following be substituted,-
That this question is being
referred to a Committee to
be appointed by the Chair to
consider the matter.
The amendment was put to vote and Carried.
The motion as amended was put to vote and Carried.
It was the sense of the meeting that the same committee
should deal with the Vancouver Women's Canadian Club and 886

the I.O.D.E. Scott Memorial Scholarships.
In regard to the question of providing a distinctive
hood for the degree of B.S.F. (Bachelor of Science in
Forestry),

a Committee appointed by the
Chair with power to act.

A letter from Dr. Evlyn F. Farris in acceptance of
the Honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) to
be conferred at the Spring Congregation was received and
ordered filed.
The meeting adjourned.
