The Summerland Kiwanis Club:
annual bursary of $100 for a student from Summerland
beginning or continuing studies at the University.
The Tri-Services Committee (University of B.C.):
four scholarships of $150 each for students enrolled in the C.O.T.C,
U.N.T.D., and R.C.A.F., who have completed at least the first phase
of training and have high academic standing.
Union Carbide Canada Limited:
scholarship of $500 per annum extending over the full four or five years of
the course leading to a degree. Available for a student entering the
University for the first time and taking studies with a view to a career
in business or industry.
The Vancouver Secondary School Teachers' Association:
the Dr. Hugh N. MacCorkindale Scholarship of $100, available for a student
entering the Teacher Training Course.
Increases in Existing Awards
Chris Spencer Foundation:
additional scholarship of $225 provided for leading students in
High School Graduation Examinations, June, 1954.
The Engineers' Wives Association Bursary:
bursary increased from $ 1 00 to $ 1 50 annually.
I.O.D.E., Princess Betty Chapter:
bursary increased from $75 to $ 100.

additional graduate scholarship of $700 for wood chemistry research

(d) A comprehensive series of stone implements fashioned by Mr. Sewell,
illustrating a variety of stone-flaking techniques.
(e) The complete set of percussion and pressure flaking tools made and
employed by Mr. Sewell in conducting his experiments and research in
stone working techniques.
Baldwin, Mr. James (Prince Rupert): a stone hammer, decorated with zoomorphic
carving, a large carved stone vessel, a series of grooved stone adzes .and other
prehistoric artifacts from Tsimshian sites in the vicinity of Prince Rupert and
on nearby islands.

and stone implements from an ancient site on the outskirts of Prince Rupert.
