(1) A scholarship of $500 for a student entering the Final Year of Forestry;
(2) A scholarship of $500 for a student entering the Final Year of Chemical
Engineering;
(3) A scholarship of $500 for a student entering the Final Year of Civil
Engineering;
(4) A scholarship of $500 for sons and daughters of employees.
Aluminum Company of Canada  Limited:
two scholarships of $400 each, together with an administrative grant of
$400 to the University. Scholarships available to undergraduates in
Honours Courses in Applied Science, Arts and Science, and other
faculties.   Open to Third and Fourth Year students.
Bennett, the late Dr. A. E. H. (estate):
bequest for the establishment of a loan fund for medical students.
The British Columbia Teachers'  Federation:
(1) A scholarship of $300 for teachers in British Columbia taking leave
of absence to pursue post-graduate study at this University in Education
or a subject matter field;
(2) two scholarships of $250 each for students with Senior Matriculation
or First Year University who are continuing toward a degree or certificate in teaching at the University or Victoria in the College of
Education;
(3) two scholarships of $250 each for students continuing in the Third
Year in the College of Education;
(3) two scholarships of $250 each for students continuing in the Fourth
Year in the College of Education; ,
(5) two scholarships of $250 each for students continuing in the Fifth
Year of the College of Education (Secondary Field) or the one-year
course for graduates;
(6) a medal and prize of $50, known as the Dr. Maxwell A Cameron
Memorial Medal and Prize, for the outstanding student in the Final
Year of each of the  Elementary and Secondary degree  programmes.

Canadian Forest Products Limited, Pacific Veneer and Plywood Division:
Service Award to value of tuition fees made available in the session 1956-57.
Canadian National Institute for the Blind:
establishment of the Donald Buckland Memorial Bursary Fund for the Blind
to assist blind students of ability and promise to continue their University
studies.
Canadian Officers' Training Corps (U.B.C):
bursaries to the total of $400 for members of the Corps continuing studies
on the campus.
The Canadian Pharmaceutical Association:
a book prize offered annually to the student in the Second Year outstanding
in the course in Compounding and Dispensing.
The Chilliwack Rotary Club:
a bursary of $300 provided annually for students from the Chilliwack Area
proceeding to studies at the University.
Clarkson, Gordon & Co.:
(1) the Clarkson Prize in Accounting of $100 for proficiency in Commerce
in the course in Intermediate Accounting;
(2) the Research Assistant Award of $250 for a student in the Final Year
of Commerce, Accounting Option.
The Class of Agriculture '21:
the establishment of a scholarship fund to mark the 35th anniversary of
the graduation of the Class—the scholarship to be for graduate study
and research in agriculture.
The Coquitlam Farmers'  Institute:
a bursary of $300, additional to a similar bursary of the same amount, for
students in the Senior Years in the Faculty of Agriculture.
Deeks-McBride Limited:
a scholarship of $300 for students in Commerce, any year; award based on
proficiency and promise.
The Don Buckland Scholarship Committee:
the   establishment  of   a   Scholarship   Fund   to   provide,   as   a   memorial   to
Dr.   Donald   C.   Buckland,   an   annual  scholarship   for  study   in   forest
pathology.    Funds   contributed   through   the   Alumni   Association   and
other channels.
Dow Chemical of Canada  Limited:
A scholarship of $500 for students entering the Final Year of Chemical
Engineering plus a grant of $250 to the University.
The East Asiatic Company:
scholarship of $50 for Summer Session Extension Classes,  1956,  in Leider
and Concert Literature.
E. L. Sauder Lumber Company Limited and
the   late   Mrs.  Amy   E.   Sauder:
a loan fund for male students beginning or continuing their studies at the
University.
Faculty of U.B.C:
contributions made by members of Faculty toward a scholarship for sons and
daughters entering First Year University.
Fraser Valley Milk Producers' Association:
(1) a bursary of $300 for students entering the Faculty of Agriculture
for the first time, the award being made on the basis of interest,
promise, and proficiency;
(2) a bursary of $500 for a student continuing in Third Year Agriculture
and specializing in dairy technology.
Fresco Club:
bursary of $50 for undergraduates.

loan fund for all students.
Hebb, the late Thomas and Evelyn:
establishment by the son and daughters of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Carlyle
Hebb of a memorial scholarship of $350 annually in the field of physics.
Holland, the late Laura:
a bequest from Laura Holland to provide a scholarship in honour of
Miss Zella Collins, for students beginning or continuing studies in the
School of Social Work.
The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation:
(1) scholarships to the total of $500 for students in the Summer Session
1956, and the Winter Session 1956-57, in the field of creative writing;
(2) grant of $1,000 for awards in the Summer School of the Theatre,
Summer School of Music, Arts and Crafts, Summer Session 1956.
The Medical Board of the Vancouver General Hospital:
An annual scholarship of $200 for students in Second, Third, and Fourth
Year Medicine. This scholarship, serving to recognize Dr. Weaver's
special interest in the value of the humanities and the arts, will be
awarded to the student in medicine who best exemplifies these values.
The Mildred  Britton  Brock Chapter,  I.O.D.E.:
a bursary of $50 for students who have completed First Year Arts or Senior
Matriculation and are continuing with Second Year University work.
The Morrison Steel and Wire Company Limited:
a service award of $300 for students in Commerce. Award made on proficiency and promise to a student undertaking a training programme
in the Faculty.
Rea, Mr. Bill:
first instalment toward a fund to establish a permanent scholarship of $500
annually to enable a U.B.C. student to attend the special Summer
Radio and Television Institute at Northwestern University.
Straits Towing Limited:
a scholarship of $300 for students in Commerce, any year; the award being
made on proficiency and promise.
The Summer Session Association:
a bursary of $50 for students taking studies in Arts and crafts in the
Summer School of the Theatre.
Taylor, the late Elizabeth Brydone:
bequest to establish the Maurice Taylor Scholarship in Music.
Vancouver Elementary School Teachers' Association:
two scholarships of $150 each, the Owen J. Thomas Scholarship and the
Elizabeth Dobbins Scholarship, for students with Grade XII, XIII, or
First Year University proceeding to a degree or certificate in a teaching
field.
Weaver, Dr. M. M.:
endowed fund to provide three annual prizes of $25 each in the First,
Second, and Third Years of Medicine in the field of the humanities.
The Western Daily Newspaper Advertising Managers Association:
scholarship open to students entering the Final Year of Commerce and
showing aptitude in the field of advertising.
Whitelaw, Mrs. W. A. and family:
the establishment in perpetuity of a scholarship of approximately $200 per
annum as a memorial to Dr. W. A. Whitelaw, the award being available
to students in the Final Year of Medicine.

a scholarship of $50 for the  Summer Session  Extension  classes in  Lieder
and Concert Literature.
Anonymous:
machine design prize of $25 in the Final Year of Mechanical Engineering.
