British Columbia Tuberculosis Society:
establishment of the Christmas Seal Medical Student Loan Fund with an
initial donation of $1000.
Chetkow, Moe and Leah:
through a bequest from the late Moe Chetkow the establishment of a proficiency prize of $100 annually for a student in the final year of the
Master of Social Work course.
Class of '29:
to mark the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary,  the establishment of a  loan  fund
open to all students—contributed through the University Development
Fund.
TheCoquitlam Farmers' Institute:
annual bursary of $300 for a student continuing studies in the final year of
agriculture.

endowment of an annual book prize for highest standing in Second Year
English (English 200).

establishment of an annual prize of $25 in memory of Professor Gilbert

a revolving loan fund open to all students.
Imperial Industries Limited:
five  bursaries  of  $400  each  for students entering  the Teacher Training
Course.
Mobil Oil of Canada Ltd. (Calgary):
scholarship of $500 available for students in engineering, preferably petroleum engineering.
Northern Electric Company Limited (Montreal):
establishment of an annual fellowship of $1200 for graduate study in the
fields of electrical, mechanical, and chemical engineering, or engineering
physics.
Pacific Coast Terminals Co. Ltd. (New Westminster):
two scholarships of $150 each for students from the New Westminster area
entering the University for the first time.
Simson-Maxwell Limited:
bursary of $150 for students in Applied Science in the Mechanical Engineering Course.
Singer Sewing Machine Co. (Vancouver):
gift of a portable Singer Sewing Machine for a high ranking student in the
Home Economics graduating class.
Summer Session Association:
establishment of an annual  prize of $35  in memory of Professor Gilbert
Tucker and available for an outstanding student in the Summer Session
History courses.
Surrey Co-operative Association:
bursary of $300 for a student entering the Faculty of Agriculture for the
first time from the trading area of the Surrey Co-operative Association.
Vancouver Association of Insurance Women:
bursary of $75 for a woman student entering the University from high school.
Vancouver Festival Society:
ten  scholarships of  $50  each  made  available  to  the   University  Summer
School of the Opera and Summer School of the Theatre in the Summer
of 1955.
Vancouver Secondary Women Teachers:
scholarship of $150 for a woman student entering the final year of her undergraduate course and proceeding on graduation to Teacher Training.
West Coast Electronic Manufacturers' Association:
scholarship of $600 available for a student continuing  his studies in the
Third Year of Electrical Engineering.
Worthington, the late Dr. G. H. (estate):
establishment  of  a   revolving  student  loan  fund,   in   memory  of  his  sons,
Lieutenant-Colonel Donald Grant Worthington and Major John Robert
Worthington.
Anonymous:
a scholarship of $100, offered annually in honour of Dr. H. T. J. Coleman.
Available for Summer Session students in the fields of psychology,
philosophy, and education.
Increases in  Existing Awards
I.O.D.E., Coronation Chapter:
bursary increased from $50 to $75 annually.
Summer Session Association:
Summer Session Association Loan Fund increased by transfer of $2700 from
other funds.

Special Acknowledgments
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (Vancouver):
for providing two awards of $100 each for radio and television plays written
in the University Extension Summer Course, 1955, in Television and
Radio.
Canadian Industries (1954) Limited:
For establishing fellowships in the field of Wildlife Management for graduate
study, and for the awarding of one of these scholarships of $1200 to a
student in attendance at the University of British Columbia.
Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada Limited:
for the establishment of undergraduate scholarships to be awarded in consultation with the University of British Columbia. These scholarships to
include two major four-year awards to total $1400 each, open to sons
and daughters of Cominco employees; four one-year awards of $250
each open to sons and daughters of Cominco employees and two
one-year awards of $300 each open to all students attending high
school in School Districts No. 1 to 1 1 inclusive.
Plimsoll Club (Vancouver):
for obtaining new scholarships from firms and organizations holding membership in the Plimsoll Club.
