Zōho saikoku Gokaikō Yokohama no zenzu Utagawa, Sadahide, 1807-1873

Description

A revision of Sadahide's edition of 1859 (See Beans 1859.1). Eight panels joined; "cover title": 御開港横濵大繪圖 Gokaikō Yokohama ōezu. Accompanied by a slipcase in grey cloth with cover "title": Der Hafen von Yokohama (2 Halfte 19. Jahrhundert) Japan Grossholzschitt ---x--cm. Although dated 1859, the iron works established in 1865 are shown. Sixteen large foreign ships are in foreground, with several other foreign and many Japanese ships nearby; unlike Beans 1859.1 the hulls resemble blocks of masonry (cf. Beans [1865.82]).
