Description

Chart of route from Ōsaka Bay to Nagasaki. Map composed of 21 panels varying from 41.6 x 59.2 cm. to 41.6 x 30 cm. total mounted size 44.2 x 753 cm. Navigation chart with routes in red, giving distances along the routes; sandbars and provincial boundaries in black, showing buildings (houses, temples, etc.) along the route, and "bansho" posts on the outer islands. Blue cloth cover on outside of scroll; cover title: Kōbe yori Nagasaki made dōchūki (Route map from Kōbe to Nagasaki). Shinto shrines in red, e.g. Itsukushima shrine on Miyajima island, except for two near Ōsaka. Deshima appears as a compound inland near Nagasaki. Cited in: WSN; 315.
