Kaisei Nihon yochi rotei zenzu Nagakubo, Sekisui, 1717-1801

Description

Scale [1:1 296 000] : 10 ri to 1 sun. Covers attached, back cover loose; the title is taken from cover label. This map is similar to Beans 1779.1, but the preface and illustrations are within borders, and this map is slightly smaller. A grid system, with parallels, degrees, and meridians, degrees are given. Outlines and place names are printed, with colors added by hand. There is a wrapper with the inscription: "Newly published at Koshi (Kanoene) 9th month of An'ei 1780." The preface by Shibano Ritsuzan, A'nei 4 (1775), has the title: 新刻日本與地路程全圖 Shinkoku Nihon yochi rotei zenzu. References: cf. 日本古地図大成 Nihon kochizu taisei, pl. 33; cf.
