Description

Cover attached; title from cover. Attached text (22.2 x 59.4 cm.) by Abe Kinin, dated 天保 (Tenpō) 9 [1838], says the map was "based on a French chart of 1835." A imitation of 新製輿地全圖 Shinsei Yochi zenzu (Newly made map of the earth) by 箕作省吾 Mitsukuri Shōgo published in 1844. ; The map includes western and eastern hemispheres (27.8 cm. each), with a coloured legend and four small hemispheres (5.6 cm. each) all within a decorative border (broken at the top); with a panel of text (22.2 x 59.4 cm.) above the map; total size of sheet 65.8 x 65 cm.
