Chikyū bankoku sankai yochi zenzusetsu Nagakubo, Sekisui, 1717-1801
Description
Cover attached; cover title: 改正地球萬國全圖 Kaisei Chikyū bankoku zenzu (Revised map of the world). This is a copy of Matteo Ricci's world map, on an oval projection, translated into Japanese, with an unsigned preface. Later issue of: Chikyū bankoku sankai yochi zenzusetsu. Cf. Old maps in Japan, pl. 9, which has the name of Edo publisher, Yamazaki Kinbei. Cf. Nihon kochizu taisei (The world in Japanese Maps until the mid-19th Century), pl. 68, which shows the first issue.
