Description

Personal journal of an Anglican missionary who served the Church Missionary Society at Lake Harbour (Kimmirut) on Baffin Island from 1911 to 1912. Descriptions of everyday life, including the hardships of Inuit and mission life, of sickness, lack of food and the perils of travel on Baffin life early in the 20th century, are featured. The journal also records Percy Broughton's experiences, expenses, trips taken through Europe, East Asia, South Africa, Australia, the South Pacific and various parts of Canada. It includes biblical notations for sermons, lists of names of sick people with dates, baptismal records, and commentary on World War I.
