Elicitation Materials for Anishinaabemowin Field Methods from February 12th, 2025 Trischuk, Hope
Description
All elicitation materials from In-Class Elicitation with Nancy Jones on February 12th, 2025. This session served as both an investigation of claims made in Heather Bliss' 2005 paper on Topic, Focus, and Point of View in Blackfoot and a continuation of the investigation into the acceptability of obviative subjects/agents of VTIs, VAIs and VTAs. I began by testing the acceptability of non-sentient obviative subjects of VAIs and VTIs inspired by the content of Bliss (2005). Then continued with acceptability judgements about attitude verbs which were tested by providing a context and test sentences with obviative subjects or agents.. The verbs tested were 'hope', 'want', 'regret', 'understand' and 'observe'.
