Data for: The effects of refined handling and object familiarity on mouse behavior Bodnar, Maya; Makowska, Joanna; Schuppli, Catherine; Weary, Daniel
Description
We assessed mouse behavior in response to the following refined handling methods: cupping, tunnel handling, and hut handling. We measured mice's willingness to voluntarily interact with the handler and time spent in the open arms of an elevated plus-maze. Our results indicate that hut handling is an effective and practical alternative to cupping and tunnel handling, particularly in facilities that already have access to huts.
