Okanagan Centre Protection
Spraying Zone
Regulations made pursuant to the "Agricultural Act"
and approved by Order in Council
April 14th, 1927
1. For the prevention, treatment, care, and extirpation of fruit pests, all orchards, gardens, and
fruit-trees within the protection spraying zone hereinafter defined shall be subject to inspection by any
officer of the Department of Agriculture.
2. Every owner and every caretaker of any
orchard or garden containing apple, pear, or crab-
apple trees situate within the said protection spraying zone shall spray all apple, pear, and crab-apple
trees owned by him or under his care or control at
least foup tynes in each year with arsenical spray
vComppaetUof 1 lb. of arsenate to 40 gallons of water,
to be applied by means of an efficient spraying
equipment; as follows*?533"*^
No. 1. A calyx spray to be applied when the
blossoms are falling.    ^***~
No. 2. A cover-spray to be applied from two to
thr^e week's after th|^J$$L 1 spray.
Jtfo. 3. A cover-spray to* be applied from two to
-''three weeks after the No. 2 spray.
No. 4. A cover-spray^to be applied between the
25th dav of July ant-Fthe 6th day of August.
Provided that in any^ase, if in the opinion of
the Minastefe'or of any officer of the Department of
Agriculture the application of the said four sprays
is unnecessary, the Minister or officer may issue to
the owner or caretaker a permit exempting him
from applying any one or more of said sprays other
than the No. 1 spray.
3. On or before the 1st day of September in each
year the owner or caretaker of any orchard or
garden containing any apple, pear, or crab-apple
trees situate within the said protection spraying
zone shall forward to the Minister of Agriculture
an affidavit proving compliance by such owner or
caretaker with the last preceding regulation.
4; The area of land described as follows is for the
purposes of these regulations defined as a protection
spraying zone, to be known as the " Okanagan
Centre Protection Spraying Zone " :—
" All that tract of land situated in the Osoyoos
Division of Yale District, which may be more particularly described as follows: Commencing at a
point on the shore of Okanagan Lake, being the
north-west corner of the North-east Quarter of
Section 32, Township 20, in said Osoyoos Division
of Yale District; thence east to the north-east
corner of Section 33 of said Township 20; thence
south to the south-east corner of the North-east
Quarter of Section 21 in said Township 20; thence
west to the north-west corner of Lot 8 as shown on
Plan No. 444 deposited in the Land Registry Office
at Kamloops; thence south to the north-west
corner of Lot 35 as shown on said Plan No. 444;
thence east to the north-east corner of said Lot 35;
thence south to the south-east corner of said Lot
35; thence south-westerly to the north-east corner
of Lot 45 as shown on said registered plan; thence
south along the east boundiairiieis of Lots 45, 59, 66,
82, and 90 as shown on said Registered Plan No.
444 to the south-east corner of said Lot 90; thence
westerly along the north boundary of Lot 122 as
shown on Registered Plan No. 521 to the north-east
corner of Lot 69 as shown on said Registered Plan
No. 521; thence south along the east boundaries
of Lots 69, 70, 7V72, 73, 74, 75, 76, and 77 to the
south-east corner of said Lot 77; thence west along
the south boundary of Lots 77 and 66 to the southwest corner of Lot 66; thence northerly along the
westerly boundary of said Lot 66 to the south-east
corner of Lot 220 as shown on Registered Plan No.
454 deposited in the Land Registry Office at Kamloops ; thence 'westerly along the south boundary
of said Lot 220 to the south-west corner of same;
thence continuing west to the shore of Okanagan
Lake; thence northerly along the easterly shore of
said Okanagan Lake to the point of commencement."
5. Every 'person violating any provision of or
failing to perform or carry out any duty imposed
by these regulations shall be liable, on summary
conviction, to a penalty of not less than $50 nor'
more than $100.
