The Railroads are having their difficulties arising from shortage of engine power and shortage of men- At a.-meeting
with CP officials this.we'ek the decision was reached to move quite a
large percentage of the tonnage from the Southern part of the Valley
via KVR East of Pentictoiio   , i
Anticipate your cair requirements/ and keep a reserve supply of cars on your sidings.
Here is something that is.very important.  Do not
accumulate your orders for iced cars.  When you know an iced car is
going to be required,, place the order with the Railroad immediately.
This accomplishes two things.  It gives the Railroad Company a chance-
to get the car iced and spotted in time.  It gets the car precoolecL
We are loading too many hot reefers.
COLD STORAGE:
We can not impress too forcibly the necessity of
protecting all unshipped stocks by placing in Cold Storage.  The weather
is very hot and quality of any variety of fruit is quickly impaired when
allowed^to remain in common storage.  Some stocks of Wealthi.es already
show depreciation from lack of proper protection.  It has b^en noticed
that some Transcendents have not been protected" by Cold Storage.  The
temperatures of some of the storages carrying Bartletts are too high.
Please do the necessary to rectify these irregularities.
Cold Storage should also be turned on in the various
plants well in advance of deliveries of fruits.  Recently two plants
were found to be out of order when operations commenced,

We try to provide shipping instructions as far ahead
as possible. .We are very grateful to those'who show a willingness to
take care of last minute orders.
We appreciate that the shipper will occasionally
be confronted with unexpected accumulations in excess of specified
Orders, and we are always glad to afford immediate clearance.  However,.
when you. hit us with eleven cars on Saturday it is a bit thick.  We.
list hereunder particulars of these cars submitted on the 24tE? and the
time of day tendered to us;;
