TORONTO
October 11th, 1916.
Jas. Goldie Esq,
Okanagan Centre, B.C.
Dear Mr. Goldie:
RE BELLEVUE RANCH.
Your letter of the 26th ult came, and I have just received yours
of October 3rd. Thanks very much for the trouble you are taking in
connection with this, and I quite agree that it would be a mistake both for
Lambert and myself if he leaves. I cannot understand his action however,
and unfortunately he is creating a situation which, unless it can be explained, brings matters to a crisis.
Sp4^ I have heard nothing from him for a long time,-except his letter
ofAthe 22nd, and there has been no reply to my letter of^the 27th (copy of
which I sent you) requesting him to follow the arrangements under which we
agreed to operate the place by letting me have a monthly statement of expenditure, etc. I sincerely hope he will not take upon himself to make
disposition of any cash returns from the place excepting through the banking arrangements, in the way that we have agreed, as that would certainly
make trouble between us.
It is a surprise to me to know that lack of money is the real
trouble, as in this connection his own proposition was that since last spring
he would require no further remittances from me, and he has never requested
any. During his first year I put $1,400. more into the place, and do
not know whether I could have raised further funds to send him , but I should
certainly have done my best to do so if he had requested it or shown the
necessity for same. Unfortunately however, I have been left quite in the
dark, and with the amount of money I have tied up out there, it makes me
feel very uneasy.
It will be the latter part of this month before I can get out there,
$nd I hope he will continue until then without creating an impossible situation, so that I can have a talk with him, with you present.
I am to-day changing my address from 15 King Street West to No* 1124
Traders Bank Bldg, 67 Yonge Street. Will you kindly note this for the
future.
Yours very truly,
JEM/T
