November 12th. 1928.
Dear Sirs ;~
The Last of the packed fruit moved out Saturday 10th.
^he Salome was in ^infield storage on Nov.the 3rd.
The enclosed statement shows the yield as it stands
to day | counting the Salome at 2000 packed boxes.
1928 crop exceeds 1927 by 15,569 . Most of this gain
is in Jonathan which means very little so far as retulms are concerned,
No one will venture a guess as to the final returns,
but so far as I can see we will have very little to the good on
the years operation.
The books are not in shape for taking off figures at
the moment for this letter, but I wanted to give you the yield
at once.
fe have only received $3000. from the Union up to date
and it went to the Saw Mill for Shook.
We have exceeded our credit at the bank as well as my
authority to borrow* and now have notes at the Bank amountung to
$25,500. We "also still owe #7000. for Shook. There will be
a carry over of Shook of about two thousand Dollars. This carry
over was caused by the necessity of having boxes to pick into so
as to finish up early enough, and ofcourse the left o^er boxes
from the fifteen cars of Bulk Jonathan.
1 will write later when we have figures and information
about markets.
We have a letter from Mr. McAllister Nov.5th.
The { Drug Stores ) mentioned are cars going to country
points with every thing that the Valley grows mixed as to variety,
grade anl sise.
fe had about ten degrees of frost in the orchard during
the last week of October, but since that the weather has been mild.
There has beem practically no rain this summer and the orchard is
very dry, so much so that ever since the packing stopped we have
beam running water to protect the trees from dry freezing in the
Winter.
To R.3. Dormer
