Description
A diary maintained by James Goldie from 1948 to1950 for the Rainbow Ranche; deals mainly with weather conditions, daily activities and farming business: pruning, spraying, irrigating, thinning, picking and hauling. Five loose inserts: - newspaper clipping dated Feb. 23, 1950, "Heavy Loss Foreseen For Soft Fruits" - 3 dealing with spraying DDT and Parathion - newspaper clipping from The Financial Post dated September 30, 1950, "Tax Heads Stuck with Cheques Can't Find Right People to Pay" notes that 75000 Canadians had yet to collect the refundable portion of their wartime taxes.

Entry Oct. 18, 1948 notes the sale of lot 13 to a couple named St. Pierre and October 23 entry notes they moved in. July 31, 1950 entry notes transfer of deeds to S.J.Land for lot 6 and Chas. Minke for part lot 6. A June 1949 entry details the sale of some equipment. Entries for January and February 1950 note very severe winter weather conditions. Several farm workers are referred to by first name only: Ben, Chas, Arthur; others noted are Charlie Minke, Shoichi, Melvin and his gang and Kawano and his gang.
