[Scenes of the Klondike Gold Rush, building of the White Pass and Yukon route, and Indigenous peoples, volume 2] Barley, H. C. (Harrie C.), -1909
Description
Album two of two. From 1898 to 1900, Harry C. Barley worked as the company photographer for the White Pass and Yukon Route, a 177-kilometres narrow gauge railway from Skagway, Alaska, to Whitehorse, Yukon. The railroad replaced the dangerous White Pass Trail taken by prospectors arriving in Skagway. Originally from Denver, Colorado, Barley moved to Skagway, where he set up a photography studio and gained a reputation as a daring outdoor photographer.
