Notes | Photographs formed part of an album entitled "MacMillan and Bloedel Limited Logging and Mill, 1940-1950's." Picture caption: Over and down goes the top of the "gin pole" tree. Jack Foster, a second rigger at Northwest Bay Division, can be seen clinging to the tree below and left of the cut. Topping is the first stage of erecting spar tree on new setting. This particular tree was better than usual in that it was several feet higher (approx 150 ft) than the main spar, affording easier raising of the "dead one". |
