Notes |
Caption on back: "A Shay locomotive brings a load of logs from Nitinat Camp B at MacMillan and Bloedel's Franklin River Division. This type of locomotive, at one time the most popular in the B.C. woods, is gear driven on all wheels which gives it maximum pulling power, but has the disadvantage of having top speed of only 12 miles per hour. For the longer haul from Camp B to Camp A the faster Baldwin locomotive is used, which can handle 35 loaded cars, each having an average load of 6,000 FBM.
