Notes | Photographs formed part of an album entitled "MacMillan and Bloedel Limited Logging and Mill, 1940-1950's." Picture Caption: Horse logging is the newest wrinkle in methods of salvaging logs unsuitable as sawlogs or peelers. Freeman Tingley and his horse named "Anything I can think of," contracted to recover pulpwood from logged off portions of land which the Co. recently purchased near the Alberni Highway. These logs are being cut into pulp wood lengths for use in the Co's Alberni Pulp Division. A similar program of logging waste utilization has been going on at Sproat Lake Div., where small and large power equipment, as well as the useful horse, have been employed. Harmac News. May 1952. |
