Caption on back written by the MacMillan, Bloedel and Powell River Limited Public Relations Department: "The first log from a major new logging operation on Vancouver Island is loaded aboard a truck for its trip to tidewater and the forest product mills at Port Alberni, Vancouver Island. The big cedar was the very first log produced at the new Cameron Logging Division of MacMillan, Bloedel and Powell River Limited. The new division is located southeast of Port Alberni, and will harvest E. and N. lands purchased last year by the company and timber it owned previously. MBandPR's 19th logging division, it will supply logs to Alberni Pulp and Paper Division and Alberni Plywood Division. A contract logger is doing the trucking job. MBandPR, in addition to its own 2500 to 3000 logging employees, employed 165 independent contractors - small loggers - with crews of more than 1,100 men in 1965.
