History of Nursing in Pacific Canada

UBC Library, together with the UBC School of Nursing Consortium for Historical Inquiry in Nursing and Health Care and the BC History of Nursing Society, has identified material that is of interest to scholars of nursing history.  The primary focus for digitization is local material (British Columbia and Yukon) held at UBC Library.  The intent is to provide access for scholars throughout the world to material that is relevant to nursing and health history and that highlights the contributions of nurses connected to our geographic area.  Our local nurses are often stars on the international stage and always thoughtful and innovative.

The growing collection will include reports written by public health nurses in British Columbia, 1924-1939; a Report of the Study Committee on Public Health (1950) also known as the Baillie-Creelman Report that was a classic textbook for nurses; a Report of proceedings of the annual convention of the British Columbia Hospitals' Association, 1918-1931; and other materials.
