Greater Vancouver Regional District Planning Department Land Use Maps
These series of detailed maps were produced in 1965, 1971, 1980 and 1983 (1983 covers the City of Vancouver Only) by the Greater Vancouver Regional District (now Metro Vancouver) and are held in the UBC Library’s Map & Atlas Collection. The maps, printed in black & white, use symbols to show lot-by-lot land use according to 64 categories, such as residential, industrial, commercial, etc. They are used by UBC students in the fields of urban planning and geography, and are frequently consulted by the local business community, specifically environmental engineers, site remediation consultants and property development firms. As frequent use over the years has caused the maps to deteriorate, it is imperative that we take measures now to preserve them digitally and make the images publicly available. UBC Library has secured permission from Metro Vancouver, the copyright holder, to undertake this work.
Note that there are two indexs maps: Index Map : Subdivision and Land Use Maps and Index - Land Use Series.
