UBC Institute of Fisheries Field Record B.C. 81-49a
Description
All specimens taken as bycatch from the above shrimp trawls operated only at night between 19:00-07:00 hours. Trawls pulled by a 65' Gulf of Mexico shrimp boat with a 365 HP D343 Cat engine. Drag length varied from 3 to 12 hours depending on shrimp density. Most fish taken on or near the bottom although some caught as nets decended [descended] and ascended. Specimens are representitives [representatives] of 3 offshore communities which occurred in depths of 14-15, 20-25, & 32-40 fathoms. The substrate varied with depth. The most onshore community was associated with a mud and sand-mud bottom.
