UBC Institute of Fisheries Field Record B.C. 54-96
Description
C64 Leptocottus armatus (ser); C38 Parophrys vetulus (ser); C64 Clinocottus acuticeps (4); C79 Apodichthys flavidus (7); C64 Artedius lateralis (2); C64 Artedius fenestralis (2); C79 Pholis laetus (6); C64 Enophrys bison DISCARDED (1); C68 Gasterosteus aculeatus DISCARDED (4); C64 Oligocottus maculosus DISCARDED (2); C68 Syngnathus griseolineatus DISCARDED (1); Seining was exceedingly difficult at Brockton Pt. because the vegetation caused the net to roll and the rocks snagged the net. We caught Artedius fenestralis (1), several Apodichthys flavidus (brown and green phases) and a couple of juvenile stickleback. Around the point towards the swimming pond was no better. Finally we went back to the sandy area between H.M.C.S. Discovery and Brockton Pt. This was very shallow. Where there was no vegetation we got only Leptocottus and Parophrys but in some sparse Zostera we collected Pholis, Apodichthys, Syngnathus, and others
