Letter to James G. Swan Esq., Hawaiian Consul, Port Townsend, Washington, from Charles T. Wilder, the Hawaiian Consul General in San Francisco, California, regarding two enclosed letters. The first letter is to C. Murray Beattie of the Hawaiian Consulate in Vancouver, British Columbia, from the Department of Foreign Affairs on September 30, 1893, regarding restriction of Chinese immigration to the Hawaiian Islands. The second letter is to Charles T. Wilder from the Office of Collector of Customs, Port of San Francisco on October 23, 1893, regarding the Afong family and status of Chinese already naturalized in Hawaii. Also included are two blank forms: the first is "Embarkation Permit (Under Special Bond)", a Hawaiian Consul form for granting permission for embarkation to Honolulu; the second is "Passport" a form for granting permission to enter the ports of the Hawaiian Islands. Both forms are mentioned in the letter of September 30, 1893.
