To the Honourable, The Post Master General
of the Dominion of Canada,
Ottawa, Ont.
Sir:
The Petition of us the undersigned Chinese residents of the City of Vancouver, in the Province of
British Columbia, residing between Cambie Street and
Main Street, in the said City, HUMBLY SHEWETH:
1. That there are upwards of Five thousand Chinese
people residing in the City of Vancouver, in the Province of British Columbia, between Cambie Street on
the West, Main Street on the East, Hastings Street on
the North and False Creek on the South.
2. That of all these people a vast number hire
out as house servants and work throughout the entire
City during the day and return to their respective
homes in the above mentioned Chinatown District in
the evening.
$.     That great inconvenience is experienced by
the inhabitants of the said Chinatown in obtaining
their mail, and that a Sub-Poet Office situate in
Chinatown for the handling of the Chinese mail would
be a great convenience to the entire Chinese population residing in that District, and specially to
those mentioned in paragraph 2 hereof.
4.      That your Petitioners are all merchants and
property owners and tax payers in the said City of
Vancouver. -2-
5. That it is the deBire of the entire aforesaid
Chinese population that a Sub-Post Office station be
established in Chinatown.
6. That the store of Wing Sang & Co., £l Pender
Street East is centrally located in said Chinatown,
and would be a suitable situation for such Sub-Post
Office.
WHEREFORE YOUR PETITIONERS HUMBLY PRAY YOU
that a Sub-Post Office be established in the above
mentioned Chinatown District.
And Your Petitioners Will Evex Pray.
