AD ON A TO ALASKA AND THE YUKON.
There is one wonderful trip which perhaps you never made—the trip to Alaska.
It is a magnificent four-day thousand-mile journey from Vancouver, by comfortable Canadian Pacific "Princess" steamer. There and back in about nine days—
or you can wait over longer for another ship.
First of all is the beautiful trip on the "Inside Passage," between Vancouver
Island and the mainland—a wild, rugged, country of wooded mountains and steep
cliffs, with here and there a small fishing village. Calls are made at Alert Bay and
Prince Rupert.
And then Alaska! Alaska, the land of gold and Indians, of romance and totem
poles, of glaciers and lovely summer flowers. The steamer calls at the fascinating
towns of Ketchikan, Wr angel, Juneau (the capital) and Skagway.
From Skagway you can take a train into the Yukon territory, and thence steamer
to Dawson. Or there's a glorious side-trip to Atlin.
The "Princess" steamers are well-furnished vessels with cosy cabins, many
public rooms, and plenty of deck space. Lots of social life and amusement, as well
as the beauties of the voyage!
