Wharfage Charges at Fort William and Port Arthur, Ont.
On all carloads and less carload freight originating at or destined to Fort William, West
Fort William or Fort Arthur, Ont. (except as noted below), handled over Canadian Pacific
Railway Company Docks at Fort William or Port Arthur, Ont., 5 cents per 100 lbs.
A minimum charge of 22 cents will be assessed on any one shipment (see Exceptions).
Exceptions—
1. On Automobiles, Passenger or Freight, in either less carload or carload
shipments, the minimum wharfage charge will be .$2.54 each
2. Horses and Cattle. ..../   .73 each
Horses &nd Cattle, 10 head or over       .36 each
Note 1—The Company will not perform, or assume responsibility, for handling of stock between vessel
and dock.
Note 2—The above charges will be collected in addition to current freight rates and are exclusive of
handling charges between vessel and dock. 1029	
Loading, Unloading or Transfer Charges at Vancouver and New Westminster, B.C.
Freight discharged from or delivered to water carriers at Vancouver and New Westminster, B.C., and which is handled by the Canadian Pacific Railway will, unless otherwise
provided in Tariffs lawfully on file with the Board of Transport Commissioners for Canada
and/or Interstate Commerce Commission, be subject to additional charges for loading to or
unloading from cars or transfer to or from freight depots, whether or not such loading or
unloading is performed by the railway company.
(a) Carload Shipments—Charges for loading or unloading, as the case may be, as published in tariffs of the individual Wharf Companies.
(b) Less than Carload Shipments—Transfer charges, if involved, will be in addition
to the freight charges.

beyond Vancouver, B.C., to or from which through rates are published in connection with
steamship or barge routes to or from Vancouver, B.C., the following harbor cargo rates exacted
by the National Harbours Board will be in addition to the through rates provided in such
through tariffs when specific reference is made in tariffs covering such rates to these charges:
Except where otherwise specified, rates named in this item will be assessed on basis of
per ton weight (of 2,000 lbs.), or measurement (40 cubic feet), as per ship's manifest.

as per your request. Since December 31st.,1956, check commenced of Grain
Government out turn weights on February 13th.11937> not yet completed. Milling

Regarding the last paragraph of your letter. I
have not shown with what frequency these checks are being made, as they are
done by either Mr.Heyman or myself whenever to have time available. When this
division was turned over to me in June 1935• bow frequently these sectional
checks shoulJ be made was not mentioned. I would imagine the same policy was
followed then as now; that is they were done whenever the opportunity presented
itself*
