Dilar Sir:-
I wae Rlad to he ahle to wire you yesterday; reporting
for duty, and am in hope* that I can rapidly settle down to work again.
My general health ie better than it hae bean for
several years past, and i am satisfied that the operations* and the
adjustment of howel troubles, etc, has removed the cause of my illness
during the last three years.
Owing to the severe nature of the incisions made (each
side of the rectum} I a® still rather sensitive in that direction*
and it will take several months for the muscles and nerves to- properly
knit* For a time, I will he eomwhat "bothered hy this; But that feeling
of tenderness and stiffness is decreasing daily, and I should he fully
active within a short time*
I will spend a few days in poing over files handled
during my absence, and ha die work of a light nature, before tackling
anything that might retard my recovery.
I am very grateful for all the consideration shown ma
during my illness.

Dear Mac:-
On July Z nd, Doctor Demuth wired Mr Black as follows,
* If you could arrange sea-voyage for A*W,2ennant it would
completely restore his health**
I have been, expecting that leaaant would ha,ve written
or tak that you ^rould have sent further noma by thia tim$, and am
at a loss to just understand the situation and whether it means
that MB Tennant is not progressing as he should, or that a little
variety would be beneficial and perhaps the turning point in his
convalescences
However I notice the Northern offices are open, and
have today wired Sweeping not to visit until further advise#f and
would suggest that ZWJHHFf.A.W.T. accompany R.S. on a northern trip.
Such a trip will give him all the benefits of a sea voyage without
the discomforts or heat, and it is not necessary that he should
undertake any work in particular.
KSXIJtg Being wtttout information this appears to me
to be advantageous over any other trip as it could be done in easy
stages* I io not know just what could be done on a longer
direct trip until the matter was taken up and this would undoubtedly require aK«xtia« some time and in addition to a request more
information and particulars would be required*
You will KKdufefcxii no doubt have information as to
the cause of the doctors wire but if my understanding of the
situation is correct there is no reason why they both ( with IUS*
positively in charge, makes this clear) should not start north at
any time* If what I have mentioned is what is needed just have
them wire movements in the usual way, and at the same time would
like you to send any news you have as to the situation and later
have A.W.T write when he is in shape to do so. C. J. i>Liok,
