Good taste, comfort, efficient service - these are the watchwords
at the Algonquin. Long and rambling in architecture, the hotel
has the air of a "Country Seat" at which guests assemble to
enjoy the hospitality of a cultured host.
Here the host is the Canadian Pacific — which means that cooking,
house-keeping and entertainment are of the highest standard.

V St. Andrews is a magic name to the
golfer. And St. Andrews by-the-sea
lives up to the tradition.
Laid out by outstanding golf architects,
two seaside courses await your pleasure;
eighteen holes of championship calibre
and nine holes for practise or leisured
play. Practise greens are available too —
all open to breezes tempered by the salt
sea or the cool surrounding woodlands. .;- ypp]:mr'- ;:;;:

There is fun and healthful relaxation
for all age-groups at St. Andrews
by-the-sea. Katy's Cove, a protected
arm of the sea, awaits swimmers or
sun-bathers. There is a protected shallow
area for small ones/ diving boards
beckon the more adventurous; and
acres of clean, white sand invite lazy
relaxation under the summer sun.
Four modern courts kept in tip-top
condition serve the tennis players -
and there is always plenty of
good competition.

A corner of the
dining room.
Nowhere is the "country-seat" atmosphere of the Algonquin so
noticeable as in the lounge, dining-rooms and your private quarters.
No need be too formal - black tie and tropical dinner-jacket are often
seen — and the tasteful decoration blends charmingly with summer
evening gowns. The Casino, amusement centre,
for indoor life.

Dancing, movies, billiards, bowling, the Casino - night-life centre of
the Algonquin Hotel - is the fun-lovers Mecca after dinner.
Nearby in the spacious grounds, yet far enough away to leave the
readers and bridge-players undisturbed, this "rumpus-room" is a
popular rendezvous. Rock-ribbed New Brunswick
and nearby Maine are
studded with rugged scenery;
Within 50 miles of the
Algonquin are Grand
Manan Island, Chamcook
Mountain, and St. Stephen,
Canada, and Calais, U.S.A.,
famous as one community
united by an International
boundary.

Other "musts" during your stay are Campobello Island - summer
playground of the late Franklin Roosevelt-Minister's Island, to
watch the unique tides,- Lepreau Falls - relic of the Glacial age. Quebec

Sun-bathed, the Algonquin Hotel is host year after year to many
guests who never miss "the season" at St. Andrews by-the-sea. Ideal
for a summer stay or a short holiday, this exclusive watering place is
readily accessible.
There is convenient Canadian Pacific train service between Montreal and
St. Andrews by-the-sea and through sleepers are operated between
Boston and McAdam, junction for St. Andrews. Travellers by road,
sea and air have equally good facilities.
And all arrangements can be made by your travel agent or the
nearest Canadian Pacific office.
