Dear Sir:
Seattle Vfliarf Tickets - Cash Balance.
Referring to your letter of April 11th.
On my last visit to Seattle I found that Ticket Agent
had been taking bills in amounts from |«X).Q0 to .^0.00 to
i'reight Cashier to obtain change f__w him when cashier went to
bank in afternoon but neither he nor his Ticket Clerk came on
duty until 5.«d0 P.M., half an hour after the freight office
closed, consequently that amount of money was not pie^ect up
until the next morning when he ¥;ould again bring bills to
cashier to obtain change, and from ykjQ.OG to ^50.00 would be
tied up all the time, i had him arrange the hours of duty so
that the change would be picked up on the same day that it ?^as
purchased by the Freight Cashier.
In our discussion he alideed it was hie understanding
that one day excursion fares would not be in effect this year
as In former summer seasons which would greatly increase his
sales of regular Victoria tickets, and the new rate being ^5.18,
a change from -J4.95 last year, would necessitate having much
more change to make the sales. I have, however, since
ascertained from the r£ass~eilg^ ,WT,twwt that the one day
excursion fares will be in effect this year, aad after advising
Agent he writes; *A% the present time no change in requirements
seems necessary, however I will keep you informed if it
becomes necessary to reopen this matter.11

I have ascertained from the Passenger Department that the one day excursion fares will be in effect this

BEMITTANCES
Dear Sir:
In reply to yours of July 2nd, regarding remittances made
by the Wharf Ticket Office, With the exception of possibly one day a week the Ticket Office makes its remittance
to the bank direct and also obtains their own change.
Due to the weekly day off, it sometimes happens that this
is not convenient and the remittance is brought down to
the Cashier in my Office, who handles It the same as it
used to bb done and he also purchases their change and
brings it back to them.
The Ticket Office is open daily from ? a.m. to 11 p.m.,
excepting on Sundays and General Holidays. Mr. Jones
takes his locked bag to the bank, himself, on Saturdays
and also picks up the empty bag on Monday.
Yours very truly,

Dear Sir:
In reply to yours of June 23rd, in connection with remittances on Saturday to the Peoples National Bank of
Washington, Seattle.
I have seen Mr, Jones* copy of Mr. Shavefs letter of
June 17tfc and would say that unless you deem it advisable I feel that it is hardly necessary for this office
to make up a remittance on Saturday and enclose it in
Mr. Jonesf bag. The reason is that we only have a few
check to remit on Saturday. Last week which was the
first closing day of the banks on Saturday, we had
checks amounting to about §94.00. However, if you
think otherwise we will make up a remittance and
handle it in Mr. Jones1 bag. Kindly advise, and oblige,

Mr. J. Ramsay,

We have been advised by the Peoples National
Bank that effective June 21st all Seattle banks will be
closed on Saturdays. It will, therefore be impossible
for us to make deposit on Saturday each week* This can
be done by mail, but is not recommended as the responsibility rests with the individual mailing the money to the
bank*
We would suggest that Saturday's earnings be held
over and deposited on Monday morning* Will you kindly
advise if this meets with your approval*
