a luxurious hotel in the midst of magnificent mountains^

ANFF SPRINGS HOTEL. To left and right rise a pair of two-mile peaks,
snow-capped forever. Thundering between them in its gorge goes the blue-green
torrent of the Bow. Out through the gap spread tumbled foot-hills, dark with
Dine. Square across the valley rises the huge range of the Fairholmes, the river
foiling around the end. And it is seldom that one can see such a spectacle from
such comfortable quarters.
Banff Springs Hotel maintains the same standards of comfort, cuisine and
smartness as a first-class New York hotel. A huge wing of stone and steel has
just been added. It has 600 guest rooms. There are two immense dining-rooms,
a ballroom, a delightful conservatory, and three spacious lounges which overlook
the most beautiful view on the continent.
The social life is always gay—dances every night, tea on the terrace. There is the
finest sporting 18-hole golf course under construction. There are tennis courts,
riding, climbing, motoring along the famous Banff-Windermere highway, boating
and swimming in the health-giving sulphur pools.
Banff is also the jumping-off point for hunting, fishing and camping trips in the
Canadian Pacific Rockies. There are plenty of trained saddle horses and
experienced guides.
The Annual Trail Ride, now famous, meets August—a riding and camping trip
in mountain fastnesses for riders of both sexes, ending with a pow-wow and celebration at the Lake of the Hanging Glaciers. Four days' Circle Trail Rides
through a wonderful trout fishing country will start out each week from Banff.
Indian Week (July 23 to 28) provides a brilliant pageant of native costumes
unique on this Continent.
The Highland Gathering and Scottish Music Festival (August 31 to September 3)
will be repeated this year on a still more impressive scale, with athletic events,
Highland songs and dances. Concerts by well-known singers will be given in the
Motor excursions can be made from Banff to various bungalow camps or to Lake
Louise or Lake Windermere. It is the central focus of the summertime life of the
Canadian Pacific Rockies. It is reached by the Canadian Pacific Railway's main
transcontinental line.
