a contract with Wallace Fisheries Limited for the purchase
from said Company of one thousand tons of salted herring,

Dear Sir,-
We beg to confirm oar sale to you of one thousand
tons of salted herring, to he packed under the supervision
of your Chinese xnsjBefetora: inspector at our Kildonan plant,
Barclay Sound,
These goods to he packed in the usual 'boxes which run
about five to the ton, and which are made - 1 x  12, 42n long,
Bnds 1*1 x 12 x 22*|".
These goods are to he ready for shipment :-
200 tons - First week in December
200 tons - Second week in December
300 tons - first week in January
300 tons - Not later than first of.February,
The price of these goods is to he 735.00 per ton of 2240
pounds, f.o.b. Dock Vancouver or Seattle, as yoa may desire.
If Seattle, price is to he in Bond.  This price to he less a
-fit
brokerage to you of 57?.

representative under whose supervision they are being packed,
to he final.    In paying for these goods, the weight to he
paid for is to he the contents of the bete, and the weight of
the box itself is not to he included.
The contract to become binding upon the establishment
of an irrevocable letter of credit.  Payment for these
goods being made against their delivery on the dock.
It is understood that we will use every endeavor in
our power to catch these fish, but should there he ho fish
on the grounds, we could not bind ourselves to make delivery.

arrangement whereby the saleefl herring above referred to
will be shipped to and sold in China or elsewhere in the
Orient, ana in relation thereto have agreed with each other
as follows,-

1. The said party of the First part hereby assigns
and makes over to himself and the other parties to this
agreement the said contract and all rights thereunder and
all benefit to he derive;" therefrom.
2. The said party o" the First part further agrees
in connection with the said shipment of said herring to look
after the obtaining or supplying of the required steamer
space, so that the shipments of said herring can he made to
the Orient as the same are receive1 from or delivered by the '
said Wallace Fisheries Limited.
3. The parties of the Second part agree to make
the necessary financial arrangements in order to provide the
ley required to pay for said herring and for the freight ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS  that I,   C.   A.
Calkins,   of the Citj   of Vancouver,pro vi nee of British
Columbia,   Tor   and in consideration of  the  sum of §

all of the said City  of Vancouver,  have remised,   released
and forever discharged,   and by  these presents  do  for my
heirs,   executors,    administrators  and  assigns,   remise,   release  and  forever discharge  the  said Yip  Sang,   Yip Yen  and
Yip Quong,   their heirs,   executors  and  administrators,   of
and from  all  and all manner of  action  and actions,   cause
and causes of  action,   suits,   debts,   dues,   sums of money,
claims  and demands whatsoever at  law or  in equity which I
ever had or  now have or which I   or my heirs,   executors,
administrators or  assigns hereafter can,    shall or may have
by reason of    a    certain Agreement  entered into on the 5$h
day  of November,   A.  D.  1919   and made between the said C.
A,  Calkins,   of  the one part,   and the  said Yip Sang,   Yip
Yen  and Yip Quong,   of the other part,   or  of any matter,
cause or thing whatsoever,   save and except  an account to be
paid by Nam Mow Company,   of Kong Kong,  amounting to  the sum
of Eighteen Hundred  and Fifty 46/100  ($1850.46)   Dollars,   in

PAYMENT OF TAX.
(1.) Every person liable to pay any tax under the Act shall send with the Return of the income on which the tax is payable a payment
of not less than one-quarter of the amount of the tax, and he shall pay the balance (if any) of the tax in not more than three quarterly
instalments thereafter, together with interest at the rate of four and one-half per centum per annum upon each instalment from the last day
prescribed for making the Return to the time payment is made.
(2.) Every person liable to pay any tax who fails to pay in full any payment or instalment thereof at the time prescribed by subsection
(1) for the payment of the same shall pay, in addition to the interest payable under that subsection, interest at the rate of four per centum
per annum on the amount in default from the date of default to the date of payment.

$1,710.00 on $18,000 and 19% on the remainder where the income does not exceed $19,000
Where the net income exceeds $19,000 the rate is 10% on all the net income.
SURTAX ON INCOME OVER $5,000.
In the case of individuals whose net
income, as ascertained by sec. 22 of the
" Income Tax Act," exceeds the sum of
$5,000, a surtax is imposed in addition to
the tax indicated herein, in respect of
which a notice of assessment will subsequently be mailed to the taxpayer fixing
the date upon which the additional surtax
is payable.
PENALTIES:  For failure to file Return within the time specified—Five per centum of the tax payable with a maximum penalty of five hundred
dollars.
For false Return—Upon summary conviction a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars.

INFORMATION.
" DEPENDENT " means a child or relative of the taxpayer under the age of eighteen years who resides as a member of the taxpayer's household
within the Province and who is wholly dependent upon the taxpayer for support, or a child or relative of the taxpayer over that age who
resides within the Province and is wholly dependent upon the taxpayer for support on account of physical or mental incapacity.
"HOUSEHOLDER" means:—
(a.)  An individual who at his own and sole expense maintains a self-contained domestic establishment employing therein on full time a housekeeper or servant;   or
(6.)  An  individual  who  maintains  a  self-contained  domestic  establishment  and  who  actually  supports  and  maintains therein  one  or more
individuals connected with him by blood relationship, marriage, or adoption.
" SELF-CONTAINED DOMESTIC ESTABLISHMENT " means a dwelling-house, apartment, or other similar place of residence, in which, amongst
other things, the taxpayer as a general rule sleeps and has his meals prepared and served.
PERSONAL EXEMPTIONS:—
1. (a.)  One thousand dollars in the case of a married person whose wife or husband resides in the Dominion, or a householder or a widow or
widower with dependent children;    and six hundred dollars  in the case of a single person, or a widow or widower without dependent
children:
(6.)  Two hundred dollars for each of the taxpayer's  dependents;   or, in case the taxpayer is a householder, other than a married person,
widow, or widower, two hundred dollars for each of the taxpayer's dependents in excess of one:
(c.)  The amount of premiums of life insurance upon the taxpayer's life paid by  the taxpayer;    but  the  amount of premiums  so   deducted
shall not exceed three hundred dollars:
(d.)  Any part of the remuneration of the taxpayer retained by his employer in connection with an employee's superannuation or pension fund:
(e.)  Any amount, not exceeding five per centum of the net taxable income of any taxpayer, which has been actually paid by way of donation
to, and receipted for as such by, any charitable organization in the Province operated exclusively as such and not operated for the benefit
or private gain or profit of any person, member, or shareholder thereof.
2. Where a husband and wife have each a separate income, they shall be entitled to a combined maximum deduction under clause   (a)  of one
thousand dollars, which deduction may be claimed by either the husband or the wife under an arrangement between themselves;   or, in
the absence of an arrangement, it shall be apportioned between them by the Commissioner.
3. The deduction for each dependent child under clause  (6) may be claimed by either parent under an arrangement between themselves;   or, in
the absence of an arrangement, it shall be apportioned between them by the Commissioner.
4. The deductions authorized by clauses  (a),  (6),  (c), and  (d)  shall not apply in respect of the income of any taxpayer who is not resident
in the Province.
