Dame Trot in surprise
Could scarce trust her eyes,
When she came to the door from her
room;
This comical Cat,
With humour quite pat,
Was singing, * Oh! do buy a broom.'

One fine summer's day
When Puss was drest gay,
Dame Trot said her Cat should see
This comical pair [life:
Then went to the fair,
And there they saw Punch and his
wife.
' How's this,' cries the dame,
' 'Tis surely the same
Mister Punch whom we saw at the
Puss holds by the nose,  [fair;
He turns out his toes,
And they're dancing a jig, I declare.'

A Parrot Trot bought,
'Twould please Puss she thought
And serve to amuse her for hours;
Quite pleased and content,
Her steps home she bent,
And found the Cat watering the
flowers.
Her nose to content,
To buy snuff Trot went,     [gle;
With Puss having just had a wran-
But judge her surprise,
When homeward she hies,
To find the Cat working the mangle.

Dame Trot loved a joke,
So mirth to provoke,
An Owl wheel'd about in a barrow:
Her Cat cried 'Away,
No longer here stay,
Or I'll shoot him dead with an
arrow.'
To laugh and to chat
Dame Trot and her Cat,
To the parlour agreed to retire;
With muffins Trot see,
Puss poured out the Tea,
And stood on a stool by the fire.

Tea over and done,
And quite tired of fun,
The Cat to her chamber Trot led;
1 Good night,' the Cat cried,
' Good night,' Dame replied,
When she for her Cat warmed the
bed,
