This book plate belongs to William Drysdale of W. Drysdale & Co. The Drysdale book store was located in Montreal on 323 James St. There was also a branch post, which included a lending library, at 1423 St. Catherine St., referenced in this book plate. Drysdale sold theological, classical, and other literary books as well as university and college text books, such as science and medical, in stores and also catalogue orders through the post. All such information was advertised, including in the McGill University Gazette.
