Description
The bookplate is printed in navy blue ink. The name, address, telephone number and hours are printed at the top. Underneath this block of text is a line, and the remainder of the bookplate is split into two halves. The headings 'terms' 'time limit' 'renewal notice' and 'care' are printed on the left-hand side of the split, and the corresponding information is printed on the right-hand side. Underneath this block is a line, the words 'Please protect your book in wet weather' and another solid line.

Although the Lending Library does not appear in the Montreal street directories, in the 1920s, a Max Cohen resided at 249 Villeneuve Street W, at the corner of Jeanne Mance. There had been Cohens in the immediate area since at least the mid 1910s, although 250 Villeneuve Street West operated variously as Villeneuve Handy Store and Frank's Soda and Delicatessen. It appears that Villeneuve Street West underwent renumbering in the late 1920s, as in 1929 Jeanne Mance is listed as intersecting Villeneuve Street West at #189, whereas in 1930 it intersects as #249.
