A thin border surrounds the text ; the top of the border is in the shape of a bookshelf with curved backing. Depicted on it are several books, with one open in the middle. A candle sits in front of the open book. At the bottom left and right corners of the border are images of the globe. The bottom line of the border contains oak leaves and acorns in the centre. The creator of the bookplate is listed as Rust Craft, Boston U. S. A.

Edward Hilton Chaloner was born on July 19, 1908 in Montreal. He went to the UK and on March 11 1939, he married Gwendolen Mary Holland in Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire. They returned to Canada shortly after their marriage. Edward Chaloner died on August 4 1980 in Montreal and is buried in Mount Royal Cemetery there. Rust Craft Company was a business owned by Fred and Donald Rust. They had initially owned a Book and Craft Shop in Kansas City in 1908. They moved to Boston in 1913 and opened Rust Craft Company. It was primarily a greeting card company but also produced puzzles, bookmarks, books and bookplates. In the 1950's the business relocated to Dedham, Massachusetts.
