Notes |
The Tranquille Sanatorium, also known as the King Edward Memorial Sanatorium, was established in 1907 just outside of Kamloops, British Columbia. It was originally a facility for the treatment of tuberculosis. It was managed by the Anti-Tuberculosis Society of British Columbia until 1921 when the provincial government took over its operation. As a result of changes in tuberculosis treatment, by 1958 the Tranquille Sanatorium had become a facility for the treatment of patients with mental illnesses. Tranquille was eventually closed in 1984.
