Anthes, J. I. Frank

Owner was likely John Isaac Franklin Anthes (1870-1933). Anthes, who went by Frank during his adult life, was an associate with his father in the furniture manufacturing business and later became a director of the Canadian Consolidated Rubber Company. In 1897, Anthes married Cyrena Hoffman Simmonds, and they had five children. The Antheses lived for a time in Wiarton, Ontario, as well as in Berlin, Ontario, and Montreal, Québec, where in 1919, Anthes founded Anthes & Sons, Agents and Importers. The University of Waterloo archives holds the Rieder and Anthes family fonds.
