In black ink on thick paper, a wreath containing the words, 'EX LIBRIS,' is positioned at the top of an architectural structure housing an image of the inside of a library and a reader or librarian holding a book. At the bottom of the image there is an ornamental box containing the name Mark Rowe.

Due to the Canadian imagery in some of Mark Rowe's bookplates, it is likely that the bookplates originated in Canada. McGill University's Philippe Masson Ex Libris Collection contains a number of Mark Rowe bookplates, many of which are also held in the University of British Columbia's bookplate collection. The University of Toronto's Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library also has a number of books containing Mark Rowe bookplates. The date listed above is based on information in the McGill collection and on the bookplates themselves. It is also probable that Mark Rowe was a book collector due to the large number of different bookplates that he commissioned as well as the books that his bookplates have been found in, for example, The Fear of Books by Holbrook Jackson.
