Notes |
The P.E.I. legislative library first began with the creation of the Legislature in 1778, however, it wasn't until 1847 that the collection had a space devoted solely to the collection and storage of books. In 1905 a donation of 5,000 was received from Thomas W. Dodd to establish a public library, which was housed in the Legislative Library, combining the two collections. The Legislative Library is now separate from the public library collection and is house in the Coles Building in Charlottetown, PE.
