Crest of a demi-lion rampant argent, gorged with a collar azure, charged with three bezants, holding between the paw a shuttle, or. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the Latin motto.

Notes	Sir Robert Peel, 2nd baronet, held the position of secretary of state for the Home Office from 1822 to 1827 and again from 1828 to 1830. He twice served as the Prime Minister of England, occupying this office during the years of 1834-1835 and 1841-1846. Peel is credited with laying the groundwork for the modern police force through his reforms to the English system of law enforcement. Drayton Manor, which this bookplate references, was located near Tamworth in Staffordshire. This property was purchased in 1796 by Peel's father (the first Sir Robert Peel), a wealthy calico printer who became the Member of Parliament for Tamworth and was made a baronet in 1800. After the death of the first baronet in 1830, Peel had the original structure replaced, commissioning architect Robert Smirke to design a new mansion that would be fully equipped with the latest modern conveniences of heating and plumbing. Drayton Manor received visits from such distinguished visitors as Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, and Sir Walter Scott. This residence was in turn demolished in 1929.
