Notes |
The Notre Dame de Grace Library for Boys and Girls was founded in Montreal in 1943. The library was created and operated by a group of local community organizations in response to fears of increased juvenile delinquency during World War II. The creator of this bookplate, Avis Selina Fyshe (1886 - ?), was the granddaughter of Anna Leonowens (the inspiration for 'The King and I') and wife of Thomas Fyshe, Scottish Banker and one of the top executives of the Bank of Nova Scotia.
