Notes |
The Montreal Children's Library was founded in 1929 by the Montreal Council of Women after being approached by Elizabeth Murray. In conjunction with Ms. Murray the Council raised enough money to hire a full-time children's librarian, Violet McEwan. Ms. Murray remained on the library board until her death in 1961. The address featured was the first branch location where the original Fraser-Hickson Library was located (Dorchester Street is now known as Rene-Levesque). This location was demolished in 1957. Currently, there are three branches of the Montreal Children's Library located in the city.
