Notes |
Most likely belonging to the 14th Lord Gray, Francis Gray (1765-1842), who was born to Lord John Gray, the 11th Earl Gray, and Margaret Blair on 1 September of 1765 and died at the age of 76 on 20 August, 1842. He gained his title on 12 December, 1807, after gaining the rank of Major in 1793 in the service of the Breadalbane Fencibles (or the Perthshire Regiment). He also held office of Postmaster-General for Scotland from 1807-1810, and Representative Peer for Scotland from 1812-1841. He married Mary-Ann Johnson, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel James Johnson. Creator William Home (b.1788) was the son of Daniel Lizars and was based in Edinburgh. Daniel Lizars died in 1812, and William Home in 1859. Blank plaque has been written on at least two separate times. Three characters are written in brown ink, and then crossed off with black ink ; the number '3' is visible over the right end of the scored line, along with another character in black ink immediately sub-script.
