Notes |
John Leeds Bozman was a lawyer, poet, and historian. He was born in Maryland in 1757 and died in 1823. He studied at the University of Pennsylvania, 1783, and completed his studies in London, becoming a member of Middle Temple. Middle Temple is one of the four Inns of Court exclusively entitled to call their members to the English bar as barristers. According to "American Bookplates" by Charles Dexter Allen, Bozman's chief work was "History of Maryland to the Restoration in 1660." His work, an "Historical and Philosophical Sketch of the Prime Causes of the Revolutionary War" was apparently suppressed ; in it Washington's role was praised and Franklin's depreciated.
