G.A. Roedde (1860-1930) was the first bookbinder to operate in Vancouver. Born in Leipzig, Germany, Gustav Roedde emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1881 and came to Vancouver in 1886. His business, G.A. Roedde Printers, flourished and is still in operation today. In 1976, his family home was deemed a 'heritage building' and now operates as the Roedde House Museum.
