ADVISORY COMMITTEE

JUNE 15, 1969 TO MARCH 31, 1971

Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia.
May it please Your Honour:
I have the honour to present a Report of the First Citizens' Fund Advisory
Committee for the period June 15, 1969 to March 31, 1971.
The general aim of the First Citizens' Fund is to encourage new and constructive projects and programmes to advance the culture, education, and economic circumstance and position of the Indian citizens of British Columbia.
To facilitate this aim the Advisory Committee has maintained, since its inception, a policy of assistance at the community level through shared-cost arrangements.
To March 31, 1971 a total of $1,593,685.50 was allocated to 286 organizations
and individuals to implement varied activities. A listing of recipients of grants from
the First Citizens' Fund is attached.
The actual cash disbursements from the Fund for the period June 15, 1969 to
March 31, 1971 amounted to $1,189,722.50, leaving a cash balance in the Fund of
$2,242,786.58. The sum of $403,963 has been allocated to specific projects and will
be released upon receipt of progress reports.
